Let's Talk Cat Collars
Let’s talk Cat Collars...
Cat collars come in a variety of materials, styles, colours and patterns, there is something to suit every personality.
But the MOST IMPORTANT thing they should all have in common is a means of escape should your cat get caught when climbing. A REAL cat collar will have either a breakaway buckle, an elastic insert or be completely elasticised.
This can be inconvenient if your cat tends to lose their collars but much better than an accident wearing the wrong collar.
It is also the means of your cat having identification. A name tag and council registration can be attached to a small split ring which then makes them easier to transfer to a new collar. A name tag can be a much quicker way to be reunited than the finder trying to find a vet to have a microchip scanned.
Cat collars also have bells to help protect the wildlife if your cat is a hunter, or it can help you find them when they are hiding!
Now, you may think because your cat is an inside cat there is no need for a collar, and hopefully they never accidentally escape the house. But consider if your cat goes to a cattery or even to the vet what would happen if they escaped?
So when looking for your next Cat Collar if there is no breakaway point then it is basically a Puppy collar and not suitable for your cat.
Keeping your loved family member safe should be a priority.
